New Beginnings: What's Next For Rockwell

Twenty years on, what's in store for one of the country’s leading property developers?

MANILA, Philippines — For most people, 20 years is the age of self-discovery and exploration. It’s the time to crawl out of the shell of their comfort zones and seize their full potential. For Rockwell Land, after 20 years as a premium property developer, that means taking the next big step.

Rockwell is a real estate company distinguished for its luxury developments. In 1995 they set the bar for a “premier lifestyle” when they decided to transform an old thermal power plant into a high-end, mixed use commercial center. To date, the Rockwell Center remains their flagship development.

What followed suit was a line of developments, all of that same caliber. These include Rizal, Luna, Amorsolo, and Hidalgo Place – the four towers that make up the West Block, a coveted address that is still in demand 20 years since its completion.

The brand has stood by this standard for two decades. So just as it is the age of self-discovery and exploration, after 20 years in the business, it was time for Rockwell to expand and explore new frontiers.

What’s in a brand?

“Simply put, a brand is a promise,” says one of the advertising industry’s greats,Walter Landor. “By identifying and authenticating a product or service it delivers a pledge of satisfaction and quality.”

When Rockwell decided to diversify, their mission became to deliver the same standard of living to developments outside the Rockwell Center.

They started with The Grove, Rockwell’s first community center outside of Makati. Then there was 205 Santolan, their breakaway project and first horizontal development. And then came 32 Sanson, their first development in Cebu and outside of Luzon.

From luxury condominiums to affordable mid-rise properties, what has remained consistent in all these developments is the adherence to the Rockwell brand: The unique, fulfilling, and coveted lifestyle it promises its patrons.

“[The Rockwell lifestyle] is a lifestyle to aim for: It’s fresh, it’s relevant, and there’s always something happening; something to do in the area,” says Ted Mallari, a 4-year resident of Rockwell’s Amorsolo Square. And because of the upkeep, she claims, “It never ages.”

In that sense, buying into a Rockwell property is a question of lifestyle. Do you want to spend your mornings at an extensively furnished gym? Do you want your weekends to be filled with dinners at trendy restaurants? Do you want easy access to the city’s top schools and hospitals?

Mara Eala, a longtime Rockwell Club member says, “I believe that Rockwell is a worthwhile investment, because you’re not just buying a property – you’re buying into a lifestyle and a sense of security that you won’t find anywhere else.”

Consistency Pays

Based on Rockwell’s track record, and the success of its many firsts, you already know what to expect from its future developments. Particularly, its new subsidiary: Rockwell Primaries.

“Primaries is for people who are familiar with the brand and those who want to experience the Rockwell lifestyle,” says Nestor Padilla, the President and CEO of Rockwell Land.

For example, The Vantage at Kapitolyo is an affordable high-rise condominium. To meet the lifestyle needs of a city-dweller, it features a Podium with a two-story retail area. And it’s also strategically located near major commercial centers like Ortigas, Makati, BGC, and Mandaluyong.

There’s also 53 Benitez, the only mid-rise development of its kind in Quezon City. It features its own fitness studio, a private function room, a clubhouse, pool, and playground within the complex. These offer that coveted comfortable and laid-back lifestyle that is the signature of Rockwell developments.

Twenty years and counting, Rockwell continues to be developer of choice for a lifestyle that’s worth aspiring for. – Rappler.com
